Purchasing a beginning guitar is an exciting time in the life of a new guitarist. You head out to the store and view walls of bright instruments and just imagine yourself and how awesome you'll look as a rock star some day!

Now, it's fun to sit back and daydream for a little bit about those sorts of things, but you really need to focus on what's important in a new guitar. So, to make sure that you don't end up screwing yourself and losing interest in playing, here are 5 very important things that your new guitar should have.

1. The strings should be a reasonable distance from the fret board.

Most early guitarists get discouraged very quickly because frankly, the guitar can be hard to play. Now, not in every instance is that the guitarist's fault.

One of the deciding factors on whether a guitar is going to be easier to play than another is by its playing action and that's determined by the distance the strings are from the fret board. If you plan on using good posture and technique, go for something where the strings are easier to press.

2. You want good tone.

Honestly, you can have a guitar with mediocre tone and an amplifier with good tone and still have a good tone overall. It's more about your personal preferences with a guitar.

If you like more bottom end, get something with more bass. If you want a beginning guitar with more of a lead flare, get something with higher frequencies.

3. Get your preference on the number of pick-ups you desire.

There are a lot of different types of guitars and they all have different pick-ups. Some of them give you the choice of 2 and some give you 3. Find out how many channels you would like on your guitar and then go for it.

4. Do you like how it looks?

Probably more important than any of the other things is if you like how it looks. You can't purchase something that sounds pretty good, but makes you look like a nerd when you play it. People want to believe that you're a rocker and not just someone who loves Dungeons and Dragons!

5. Note the weight of the instrument.

A heavy beginning guitar can really weigh you down, literally. Some guitars are built to be nice and light for moving around while others are focused on a really loud and broad sound.

Find out what's more important to you and then make your decision from there.

Now, even though you'll have this really awesome instrument to play, you still need to figure out how to play it. That's why it's important to really get down to business from the very beginning and get some online guitar lessons.

Yea, lessons seem like a pretty big step in your guitar career, but it's more about learning to play the right way from the very beginning. Seriously, if you were to take only a few lessons, you would be way ahead of everyone else.

Here are a few reasons to look at some reasonably-priced online lessons:

* You'll learn the proper way to hold and play the guitar.

* Chords will be easier to play and easier to connect together.

* You'll learn the value of following a consistent tempo.

* Single note licks won't scare you anymore.
Author Resource:- Just be certain that the online guitar courses are legitimate and are not teaching you pointless garbage. For example, you can read why an experienced guitarist absolutely HATES the very popular lessons called Jamorama guitar and any of the other Jamorama guitar products.
