Fun songs to play on guitar just might be what you need to get your skills into gear and become motivated once again. If you've spent too much time playing scales or boring songs on the guitar, it's probably time for you to learn some tunes that are fun for not just you, but for your listeners as well!
It's easy to get discouraged with all of the things that experienced players say that you should know, but they're not really that fun to play. So, it's time to have a little more fun when you play and you can start with this list of 6 tunes that are relatively easy to learn.
1. "I've Got a Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas
Chords: G, D, E, D
This tune has recently become one of the most popular hits on the air for the year and if you're strumming it on the guitar, you're bound to have heads turning and people singing along. The good news is this tune has only four chords for the entire song. If you want to experiment with some of the lead riffs, that's fine, but the basic structure is very easy.
2. "All the Small Things" by Blink 182
Chords: C, F, G
Blink 182 never fails to deliver popular hits and "All The Small Things" was an easy addition to this list of fun songs to play on guitar. There are basically three sections to the entire tune, but only three chords make up its bulk. Heck, if Tom Delonge can pull it off, I think that you can as well.
3. "Pressure" by Paramore
Chords: Bm, G, D, F#
Paramore's first hit is one of their easier songs to play, and the only thing that might trip you up is the rhythms used behind the chords in the intro and verses. Other than that, you'll have a couple very repetitive lead riffs in the chorus that are very simple to play along with the chords.
4. "The Joker and the Thief" by Wolfmother
Chords: D, C, F, G
If we're talking about a band that appeared out of nowhere and completely ruled the charts with a sweet song, then we're talking about Wolfmother. This is included in the list of fun songs to play on guitar because of simple chords, easy rhythms, and it's just a downright catchy tune that you'll put on repeat.
5. "When Your Heart Stops Beating" by Plus 44
Chords: Am, C, G
Chorus: F, C, E, Am
Plus 44 is the baby band that came about from Blink 182's break-up, but it spawned a very catchy song called "When Your Heart Stops Beating." This will give you a chance to try out some basic chords in a standard rock tempo composed by none other than Mr. Travis Barker.
6. "Play That Funky Music White Boy" by Wild Cherry
Chords: You're gonna have to look this one up.
It's no wonder that this is one of the most popular fun songs to play on guitar since it's a huge hit at weddings and office parties. The guitar part consists of only a few chords and they're played repeatedly until your fingers do all of the thinking for you. After that, just watch everybody dance.
