In general terms medical symptoms refer to the complaints which indicate the start or the occurrence of a disease. These are the sensations that make a person feel that he is not normal which are at the first place usually noticed by the patient himself which cause people to go and see a professional doctor. One can self diagnose medical symptoms at the first place. The ability to self diagnose is very crucial for the initial treatment but after that point it is important to seek the professional advice.

One can self diagnose medical symptoms initially by comparing the symptoms with previous illness, searching online by understanding the difference in sensation, consulting with elders etc. If the symptoms are specific and highly pronounced it is easy to self diagnose. The effective and proper treatment of a disease is possible when the diagnosis is done properly, so it is always better to consult a physician. The failure to diagnose medical symptoms properly may lead to acute illness and serious medical problems.

There are many factors that influence the proper diagnosis of an illness. Proper medication can be given only when the medical symptoms are clearly understood by the doctor who should be capable of interpreting the symptoms and required laboratory tests are conducted. It is very important to understand that an improper diagnosis of medical symptoms or partial diagnosis may result in acute illness and hamper the medication process.

Some of the medical symptoms are very difficult to assess which results in misdiagnosis in turn causing serious diseases. Some of the cases when it is difficult to diagnose are:

· When the person is showing some mental, emotional and behavioral changes or disorders. These indicators are very tough to assess. It is very difficult to communicate or interpret the changes in these factors as they differ from one individual to the other.
· It is difficult to asses the medical symptoms exhibited by the infants as the verbal communication and interaction is not possible with the infants. The best way to assess is to understand and interpret the clues of there body movements and lab tests of urine etc. may be useful.
· Symptoms associated with digestive illness can be comparatively difficult as they are almost similar in nature. Some other diseases which show vague and variable symptoms it becomes very difficult to diagnose.

Generally seen and known symptoms though easy to diagnose, if misdiagnosed can lead to serious illness and medical complications. Some of the generally known medical symptoms are body pain, running nose, acute pain in the muscles, and non stop blood flow if for any cuts, pain in the joints, anxiety, chest pain, choking, constipation, sneezing etc.

Many of the operations of major medical treatments result in failure due to the improper diagnosis and inability to interpret the medical symptoms in the right manner. The more predominant misdiagnosed symptoms that result in failure are breast cancer, myocardial infarction, lung cancer and colon cancer.

In conclusion, it is always advisable to seek the services of a medical professional to diagnose medical symptoms are the earliest so as to cure the illness in the initial stages before it results in acute illness.
