Garmin adds adventure to owners of trucks and SUVs. When you use the points of interest search functions, motorists can become "tourists" anywhere they are. Even when driving in familiar areas of town, a GPS system's points of interest navigation can point out several interesting destinations that drivers may not have even known were there.

While Garmin GPS systems can vary in basic design, searching points of interest on the GPS menu typically calls for looking under a device's navigational menu for the "search" or "where to" button. Then press on the "points of interest" option which will help you to get a listing that includes a variety of different options for the specific geographical area.

The listing will even break down the distance to the destinations offered from the point where the motorist happens to be at the time the search was initiated.

Explore the options and users are able to find such potential destinations as:
o Food - Finding new restaurants to explore has never been easier. This search will typically pull up a complete and accurate listing of all restaurants within an area. This list can be broken up by cuisine style, too, making it even more convenient to find a particular style of cooking.
o Lodging - This search feature includes hotels, motels and even bed and breakfasts. It's a great way to explore the options in an area quickly and efficiently. You are then able to find the perfect place to rest your head while exploring your GPS features.
o Shopping - Exploring an area for malls, grocery stores, boutiques and specialty stores has never been easier. This search feature can reveal stores that are unique and may have otherwise been missed.
o Entertainment - Locating movie theaters, live performance venues and more in unfamiliar cities is simple when this function is used.
o Attractions - This is an excellent search feature to use at home or on the road. It cand give you an extremely detailed listing of all theme parks, recreation centers, museums, community parks, landmarks and more within a specific given area. This is a great way to add in a quick side trip or quick weekend away for enjoyment while driving long distances.
o Recreation - Looking for a community pool, golf course or tennis courts? This feature can help drivers find what they're after despite their current locaion.

Keep in mind that most GPS points of interest searches are updated on a regular basis. This includes off-road destinations taht can only be reached by a truck or SUV. Despite this, a Garmin GPS company may not necessarily know about every possible stop along a route. If there is a certain place that a driver has in mind, plugging in the address is generally the fastest and most convenient way to locate the destination.

Now, if there's no certain destination input in mind, a Garmin GPS system can take a truck and SUV driver on an adventure by opening up all sorts of potential stops along routes, even familiar ones.
