Nearly all people are in the dark when it comes to windows computer upkeep. If you desire to keep your pcs running though you will want to know how to do a few uncomplicated things. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen a person’s computer filled with history and a loaded mess of temporary internet files. These can slow your computer down better than you may think.

Computer viruses are also something to worry about when you are doing your computer maintenance. Thankfully there are many free virus protection software out on the market today. The truth is however that the only real way to keep from getting a virus is to switch to a mac computer instead of a windows computer. However, Comodo does offer a one hundred percent guaranteed that your computer will not be infected by any known viruses.

The next item to be aware of is virus protection. Nothing can slow a computer down like a nasty virus. Those nasty bugs can give you some great headaches. What is worse is that there is virtually no way to keep from getting one too. A few years ago there was a nasty virus that infected people just because they got online that day.

So the first thing we need to cover is how to clear out your internet history and temporary internet files. This is probably the easiest maintenance you may ever do on your windows computer. It does not take fancy software that costs a lot of money. All you have to do is open your browser. For those who do not know what a browser is I suggest computers for dummies.

From this position you can simply click on tools in the menu bar and select internet options. This will give you the option of clearing your forms, internet history, temporary internet files and more. It should be very self-evident as to how you need to do this. Simply click the boxes for the files you desire to delete and click ok. This is how you get a clean history folder and this is how you keep your temporary internet files clean.

The simplest way to clear out your Internet history files and cookies is to download a free software called CCleaner created by Piriform. CCleaner will clean out the junk from your windows computer and help fix your registry files too. You can even tweak out your startup file to allow windows to boot faster.

Another great free software to help with your windows maintenance is called Advance System Care created by IObit. The free version will allow you to optimize your Internet connect, clean out the junk files, fix registry errors, fix problems due to hijack, and has a turbo boost for optimizing for game play.

If you want to download free software and keep all of them updated then FreeApps will do just that. FreeApps allows you to find the free software’s of your choice and download them and install them all automatically with a click of a button.
